The Homecoming
And see, now I go bound in the spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that will happen to me there,
Except that the Holy Spirit testifies in every city, saying that chains and tribulation await me.
But none of these things move me;
Nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from The Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God. Acts 20:22-24
I wonder what reception Paul had, when he finally went home to glory?
Hebrews 12:1 states that we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses urging us on in the race set before us.
Could Paul hear them? These I imagine at times, when alone and pressed I see them and hear them calling me on.
Luke 9:51 tells us that as Jesus' time to return to heaven Drew near, His face was set like a flint towards Calvary. Nothing could dissuade him.
Here we see Paul, with hi face set like a flint to Jerusalem, even though chains awaited him.
This life is not about ease and comfort, this is the big lie. I am an alien, so to speak, here to win the lost and take them home to glory. Eternity awaits me, that is where my home is and that is where my future lies.
I have a task to perform. I am on a mission. Let me run the race with diligence. Amen!
