The Search

After hearing the king the wise men went on their way. And there it was- the star they had seen in the east! It led them until it came and stopped above the place where the child was. When they saw the star they were overjoyed beyond measure. Entering the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and falling to their knees, they worshipped Him. Then they opened their treasures and presented Him with gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Matthew 2:9-11

I had search for Christ for 15 years. At age 4 I had an encounter that caused me to seek God. Those 15 years were a struggle. I followed all I had been told to do and failed. I had become quite despondent when finally He came to me.

The wise men studied the stars and had travelled a few years from when they first saw the star. We can gauge this because Herod questioned the magi about when they first saw the star. He had assumed that the star appeared when Christ was born. He used this information to kill all male children  2 and under in Bethlehem.

The magi went to the King's palace, assuming a king would be connected with the palace. I looked for Christ in the Catholic Church and did not find Him, I had to go outside the church to find Him.

When the magi finally found Christ they worshipped Him and gave Him gifts. I did the same. To finally find what you search for brings such joy. I was set free of all my sin, no more struggle. My heart was singing, I worshipped and I gave because of the joy.

This morning I went to church because today is all about Him. How good is our God! He deserves all honour and praise. Christmas is His birthday, not an excuse for me to be selfish. All honour and all praise and all glory belongs to Him! Amen!
