What Pollutes Us?

If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a mature man who is also able to control his whole body.

Now when you put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we also guide the whole animal. And consider ships: though very large and driven by fierce winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs. So too, though the tongue is a small part of the body, it boasts great things. Consider how large a forest it ignites. And the tongue is a fire. The tongue, a world of unrighteousness, is placed among parts of our bodies. It pollutes the whole body, sets the course of life on fire, and is set on fire by hell.

Every sea creature, reptile, bird or animal is tamed and has been tamed by man, but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. We praise our Lord and Father with it, and curse the men who are made in God's image with it. Praising and cursing come out of the same mouth. My brothers this should not be so. James 3:2-10

Sounds dreadful! Yes BUT God is our saviour. I can constantly yield my mouth to God and allow Him to tame it for me.

I know what goes on in the heart comes out of the mouth. If I am fellowshipping God's presence and filling myself with Him and His praise, I do not have time for depression, anger, jealousy, strife, lust.

A few days ago a young man I was speaking to said he was waking up depressed in the morning. I asked him what was he doing late at night. He said, "watching television." I said, "there is your problem. TV shows fill you with lust or longing for what you do not have and give worldly answers for your problems. You need to spend time with The Lord, listen to godly things, watch godly messages. Fill yourself with hope and a future."

Because we do not believe that TV can depress us and think it is a source of relaxation, fun etc we are seduced into accepting its gospel. Me, me, me! Get! Get! Get!

Television shows are produced by carnal men and women, the stories are written by people who, in the most part, do not know or honour God. Where is the truth, righteousness, completeness?
