A Love That Never Fails
When The Lord saw that Leah was unloved, He opened her womb; but Rachel was unable to conceive. Leah conceived, gave birth to a son, and named him Reuben, for she said, "The Lord has seen my affliction; surely my husband will love me now."
She conceived again, gave birth to a son, and said, "The Lord has heard that I am unloved and given me this son also." So she named him Simeon.
She conceived again, gave. Birth to a son, and said, "At last my husband will become attached to me because I have borne three sons for him." Therefore he was named Levi.
And she conceived again, gave birth to a son, and said, "This time I will realise The Lord." Therefore she named him Judah. Then Leah stopped having children. Genesis 29:31-35
Isn't it interesting that God used an unloved woman to bring forth the line down to Christ. Jesus is called 'the Lion of the tribe of Judah.' How good is God? God hardly ever chose the famous, the bold, the beautiful but rather the rejected, despised, the forgotten, the nobodies.
So if you are suffering from a 'nobody' syndrome, welcome! I am a nobody and I know my God chose me to do His will, it is He who makes us a somebody in His kingdom.
Leah wanted her husbands love and never obtained it, yet the creator of the universe loved her and gave her a treasure, in fact many treasures. Jacob's sons, the first of them belonged to Leah.
In our desperation for the love of a man or a woman we will do things to win their favour, things we think will win their favour but do not succeed. In fact if their love is elsewhere we are doomed to fail. I failed, but now I realise that My God's love is greater and more satisfying. My God's love does not change, He never wearied of me, He is faithful and true. Amen!
