The Purpose of Bad People

Then Jospeh had a dream. When he told it to his brothers, they hated him more. He said to them, "listen to this dream I had. There we were binding sheaves of grain in the filed. Suddenly my sheaf stood up, and your sheaves gathered around it and bowed down to the sheaf."
"Are you really going to reign over us?" His brothers asked him. "Are you really going to rule us?" So they hated him even more because of his dream and what he had said. Then he had another dream and told it to his brothers. "Look," he said, "I had another dream, and this time the sun, moon, and 11 stars were bowing down to me."
He told his father and brothers, but his father rebuked him. "What kind of dream is this that you have had? He said. " Are your mother and brothers and I going to come and bow down to the ground before you?" His brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept this matter in mind. Genesis 37:5-11

Joseph was 17 when he was dreaming these dreams. A little unwise but then what 17 year old has wisdom in how to handle divine revelation?

Joseph had a destiny and although his brothers envy caused them to sell him as a slave to a caravan of traders going to Egypt, Egypt was where his destiny lay.

Joseph would not have know his brothers actions were a god thing but it was. God was taking him somewhere worth going. The journey to the fulfillment of his dream would take years; imprisonment and unjust treatment. Yet God had a plan. The time Joseph would spend in prison would be a time of drawing near to God, being humbled and made ready to rule. Whilst in jail he served others.

So really all that happens, both good and bad are making us ready. The bad helps our character development and without bad people in our lives we would be spoilt and lacking godly character.

So rejoice when someone abuses and misuses you and speaks ill of you, you are being chiselled for something great!
