A Closer Walk
In the third month, on the same day of the month that the Israelites had left the land of Egypt, they entered the wilderness of Sinai. After departing from Rephidim, they entered the wilderness of Sinai and camped in the wilderness, and Israel camped there in front of the mountain.
Moses went up the mountain to God, and The Lord called to him from the mountain: "this is what you must say to the house of Jacob, and explain to the Israelites: you have seen what I did to the Egyptians and how I carried you on eagles wings and brought you to Me. Now if you will listen to Me and carefully keep My covenant, you will be My own possession out of all the peoples, although all the earth is Mine, and you will be any kingdom of priests and My holy nation. These are the words you are to say to the Israelites." Exodus 19:1-6
God is moving in for a closer relationship. He was ready, were the people? God was beginning to reveal Himself, Hus holiness, His power and His might. The Israelites begin to tremble.
They end up backing away and wanting a connection through Moses, not one on their own merits. What a shame! How disappointing for God.
Jesus made a way for us all to come close, what shall we do? We have been given His Holy Spirit as a bonus. We can now connect with God at any time and in any place.
Make room for Him, invite Him in, allow Him a voice in your life! Amen!
