Love Your Fellow Man
Do not murder,
Do not commit adultery,
Do not steal,
Do not give false testimony against your neighbour,
Do not covet your neighbour's house. Do not covet your neighbour's wife, his male or female slave, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbour. Exodus 20:13-17
Jesus addressed all of these in one command: love your neighbour as yourself. Now we love ourselves because we are constantly aware of ourselves and how others impact on our world. To love our neighbour as ourselves would to be consciously aware of them, their needs and their hearts. Not putting ourselves first is a challenge and loving others the same, well now that takes some doing. (Well for me it does present a challenge)
Not loving ourselves more will hold us back from murder, thievery, covertousness. James addresses this: 'what is the source of wars and fights among you? Don't they come from the cravings that are within you? You desire and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. You do not have because you do not ask. You ask and don't receive because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your evil desires. (James 4:1-3)
Ahhh! Not good!
God gave the children od Israel borders. They had limits. We need to know ours. Talking of which the photo below is the view from my 'hill', above my new home. Nice! The photo does not really show how high I am. I climbed for about 20 minutes up a dirt track. Fun!
