No Condemnation
All the people witnessed the thunder and lightening, the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain surrounded by smoke. When the people saw it they trembled and stood at a distance. "You speak to us, and we will listen," they said to Moses, "but don't let God speak to us, or we will die."
Moses responded to the people, "Don't be afraid, for God has come to test you, so that you will fear Him and will not sin." And the people remained standing at a distance as Moses approached the thick darkness where God was. Exodus 20:18-21
Now the people are presented with a holy, just and fearful God. They have been presented with the 10 commandments. God wanted them to hear and know His expectations. They were just and right but they would be difficult for them to keep.
In my natural, unregenerate state I am unable to keep the law. Invariably I would not put God first, I would fail to keep the Sabbath, I would envy and become angry with my fellow man. I would because my fallen nature is wired that way.
Paul he apostle addresses the problem well in Romans 7. Sin crouches in my body. Although I desire to do right in my spirit my flesh, weakened by sin fails. ' what a wretched man that I am! Who will rescue me from this dying body? I thank God, through Jesus Christ my Lord! So then, with my mind I myself am a slave to the law of God, but with my flesh, to the law of sin.'
Chapter 8, one of my most favourite in the whole bible, burst forth with hope: ' therefore, no condemnation now exists for those in Christ Jesus, because the Spirit's law of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death.' I am free from the penalty of sin by faith in Jesus Christ.
NO condemnation exist! None! All gone!
