Penality for Refusing to Listen

But if you do not obey me and observe all these commands- if you reject My statutes and despise My ordinances, and do not observe all My commands- and break My covenant, then I will do this to you: I will bring terror on you.......
But after these things if you will not obey Me, I will proceed to discipline you seven times for your sins. I will break down your strong pride....
If you  act with hostility towards Me and are unwilling to obey Me, I will multiply your plagues seven times for your sins.....
If in spite of these things you do not accept My discipline, but act with hostility towards Me, then I will act with hostility towards you; I will also strike you seven times for your sins....
And if in spite of this you do not obey Me but act with hostility towards Me, I will act with furious hostility towards you, I will also discipline you seven times for your sins. You will eat the flesh of your sons; you will eat the flesh of your daughters..... Leviticus 26:14-16; 18,19; 21;23,24;27-29

The Israelites would have probably thought this was a bit drastic and would not happen, but it did. In 2 Kings 6:24-29 King Ben-Hadad from Syria besieged Samaria and people did indeed eat their children.

The five sets of curses, beginning in verse 14 are presented as punishment for the disobedience of God's commands, Statutes, ordinances, and covenant.

God is not a God to be ignored. Judgement is coming again, as spoken in the book of Revelation. Currently we are enjoying God's grace that is poured out. Jesus came to seek and save the lost, this is His quest, this is our quest.

Jesus, Himself talked of a time when the end would come in Luke 17:20-37. It would be just like in the days of Noah, so will it be in the days of the Son of Man. Nothing unusual will be happening, life will go on as normal but destruction will come, people will disappear.

When Jesus was asked what would be the sign of these things, He said: 'Where the corpse is, there also the vultures will be gathered.' There will be no hiding Christ's return, it will be obvious to the entire world.

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
