The Sabbath

Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. You are to labour six days and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lordyour God. You must not do any work- you, your son or daughter, you male or female slave, your livestock, or the foreigner who us within your gates. Fort he Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and everything in them in six days; then He rested on the seventh. Therefore The Lord blessed the Sabbath day and declared it holy. Exodus 20:8-11

Rest is good, so is spending time in worship at church. God thought so much of the seventh day He created it, kept it and set it apart as holy.

Yesterday I moved house but today there was still much to do. I toyed with the idea of taking it off but the need for order compelled me. Now tomorrow I will see just how much I needed to take a rest day today. I did go to church, spend time with mum, go for a walk and a bit of unpacking. However, rest is also to recharge batteries and prepare the body for the week to come.

If God, who does not get tired or weary, takes a day off then who are we to complain. Amen! 

I am in a new suburb and so far the hills behind the estate are accessible. What a view! I will post a photo tomorrow. My dogs loved the walk up the hill, they were smiling. Yes dogs smile.

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
