Order

The Lord spoke to Moses in the tent of meeting in the Wilderness of Sinai, on the first day of the second month of the second year after Israel's departure from the Land of Egypt: "Take a census of the entire Israelite community by their clans and their ancestral houses, counting the names of every male one by one. You and Aaron are to register those who are 20 years old or more in their military divisions-everyone who can serve in Israel's army. A man from each tribe is to be with you, each one the head of the ancestral house. These are the names of the men who are to assist you..... Numbers 1:1-5

God knows everyone. Jesus told us even the hairs on our heads are numbered. When the counting was done there were: 46,500 Reubenites; 59,300 Simeonites; 45,650 Gadites; 74,600 Judahites; 54,400 Issacharites; 57,400 Zebulunites; 40,500 Ephraimites; 32,200 Manassehites, 35,400 Benjaminites; 62,700 Dannites; 41,500 Asherites, 53,400 Naphtalites, totalling 603,550. there were also Levites, who were not numbered but to serve at the Tent of Meeting.

Please excuse if I have spelt the names wrongly. I was tempted to add Vegimites. (an Aussie joke, we Australians love Vegimite, (a spread to eat on bread) so therefore I would have included the Aussie contingent).

God then went on to state how the various tribes were to camp around the tent of meeting. Picture below shows how they were to camp, sorry about the view, a little early exercise for your neck.

We can read Numbers and be bored or appreciate the order and structure. This is something we do not have, necessarily, in our Christian life, and it can be appreciated.

As I read I am seeking the God of order in my life, not in a religious way but a relational way. Why not join me!
