The House

On the day Moses finished setting up the tabernacle, he anointed and consecrated it and all its furnishings, along with the altar and all its utensils. After he anointed and consecrated these things, the leaders of Israel, the heads of the ancestral houses presented an offering. They were the tribal leaders who supervised the registration. They brought as their offering before the Lord six covered carts and 12 oxen, a cart from every two leaders and an ox from each one, and presented them in front of the tabernacle.
The leaders also presented the dedication gift for the altar when it was anointed. Numbers 7: 1-3; 10

Although Reuben was, officially, the first born son, because of his sin with his father's concubine he was cursed by his father in Genesis 49: 'turbulent as water, you will no longer excel.' We see throughout Numbers that the tribe Judah is placed first on the east of the tabernacle and is the first tribe to bring an offering, it is also the largest tribe. Jacob said of Judah: 'the sceptre will not depart from Judah or the staff from between his feet until He whose right it will comes and the obedience of the peoples belong to Him.' Here Jacob spoke of Jesus.

The Levites, whom Jacob also cursed: 'I will disperse them throughout Jacob and scatter them throughout Israel,' are the priests, they do not own land and the very ones who Jacob said were angry and dangerous are harnessed and made serve, interesting!

God is in control. No matter what a house, a family may think they are or set out to do, it is God who sets the tune. Each one of us comes from a family, that family has it's own way of living: be it business, service, ministry, works, each has a mindset yet God leads. We can despair about our families but we need to step back and allow God room to be God in our families. He has a plan and our minds cannot always discern that plan. As we struggle to control we lose. We need to release and allow God. Amen!
