What Does God Want?

And now, Israel, what does The Lord your God ask of you except to fear The Lord your God by walking in His ways, to love Him, and to worship The Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul? Deuteronomy 10:12

Seems simple doesn't it? Yet I know before I came I Christ I wanted to do this but was unable. I would constantly wander.

The day The Lord called me and I opened my heart and invited Him in, I became able not through my own strength but His Holy Spirit abiding in me strengthening me. I can will to do what is right but sin dwelling in my mortal body undoes me, oh sinful woman I am who shall deliver me from this body of sin. I praise God Jesus Christ has set me free. (My adaptation of Romans 7)

Oh joy! I praise God I can now love Him with all my heart, soul and mind. All that I am can praise Him! Amen!

Why would I want to live independent from Christ when His indwelling presence fulfills all the requirements of the law. He did it all, all to Him I owe. Sin had left a crimson stain but He makes me white as snow. I am clean, whole, empowered, free. Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
