Avoiding Deception

Watch out, brothers, so that there won't be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart that departs from the living God. But encourage each other daily, whilst it is still called today, so that none of you is hardened by sin's deception. For we have become companions of the Messiah if we hold firmly until the end the reality that we had at the start. Hebrews 3:12-14

Rather than posting what we eat for dinner or what we buy out shopping on Facebook, perhaps we should be more aware of the spiritual state of our family and friends and neighbors, in other words being 'other focused' instead of self-focused.

It is important that we all finish the race set before us. Deception will skew us sideways if it claws us. James tells us why and how we are deceived: 'each person is tempted when he is drawn away and enticed by his own evil flesh.' James 1:14.

We all have a flesh nature that needs to stay dead. Every now and then we will rise it rise it's ugly head and the stench is overpowering. This should be a sign to pull the plug, refuse it life, don't feed it.

Being a companion with Christ is noteworthy. Wow!
How amazing! Of this one thing may I boast, I am a Christ follower, I walk with Him. He who we honour down here will honour us before His Father and the whole of heaven. Worthy prize that! Amen!

Know Your Sword!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
