Bring the Gift
For by the grace given to me, I tell everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he should think. Instead, think sensibly, as God has distributed a measure of faith to each one. Romans 12:3
What does Paul mean by 'the grace given to me'?
Romans 1:5 tells us: 'we have received grace and apostleship through Him to bring about the obedience of faith among the nations.'
Grace calls us to Christ, grace covers us, we are no longer viewed as sinners and aliens but sons and daughters. Yet grace calls us. Each of us is called to function in the body of Christ. We are each endowed with a gift to give.
Ever gone to a birthday party without taking a gift? It is a bit rude unless there is a plan. We, each, have been invited to function as the body of Christ, we each have a gift.
On Sunday I went and had lunch with a group of people from church. When I walked in they all looked at me with vacant, empty stares. I volunteered information and tried to help them come alive. They stayed dead. These are 'Christian' folk. Why are they dead? Perhaps they have believed the lies of their enemy. Perhaps they do not see themselves as they ought. Their problem is not pride but defeat.
Who lies to us? Satan. What is his goal? To rob, steal and destroy. With these people he was winning.
If I am not active in my faith and the use of my gift I have been marginalised. Lord I ask for mercy and grace for these dear folk. Set them free to see and hear You and Your beauty. Amen!
