My High Priest
Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens-Jesus the Son of God - let us hold fast to the confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathise with our weaknesses, but One who has been tested in every way as we are, yet without sin. Therefore let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us at the proper time. Hebrews 4:14-16
Praise God! We have a saviour who totally understands: rejection, temptation, hardship, desire and more. Being totally human He would have experienced anger, resentment, jealousy and refused to be mastered by them. Yet He would know exactly what each felt like.
Having had to grow up and obey His parents He would have understood desire to rebel and chosen not to. Just because He chose not to sin does not make Him any less human, to suffer temptation and walk away, enables Him to come beside and strengthen us.
Just like us He had to depend on the Father and trust Him in all things, He was not baptised with the Holy Spirit until it was time for His ministry. He had no special power, as He had laid it all down before He came. He had to love and obey just like us. For 30 years nothing seemed to be happening, He had to trust the Father that His obedience to being a carpenter and caring for His family, in the absence of His dad, would lead to His destiny.
When finally launched into His ministry He had the hatred brigade following Him and plotting His death. Nice!
Yes, He is able and worthy to be my high priest and yes I can trust His words, that they do bear life and that I can give Him my life and know He will care for me. Amen!
Praise You Jesus, You are worthy! Amen!
