Set Free From Legal Christianity
Likewise, my brothers, you have also died to the law through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to Him who has been raised from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit for God. For while we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused by the law, were at work in our members to bear fruit for death. But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of written code. Romans7:4-6
We are dead to the law and alive to Christ. What does that look like? The law demands you say the Rosary, go to confession, not eat meat on Friday. It is definitely not about enjoying yourself, your relationship with God is a legal one.
What does being alive to Christ mean? Trusting Him to have paid my entrance fee; enjoying the ride; enjoying His company; partaking in a relationship with Him; getting to know Him and what He is about; communicating with Him; dealing with issues; listening to His requests; inviting others along on the ride. Simple?
I am set free from the law and the dictates of my flesh. Christ in me is my source of power to overcome and live in the Spirit. I need to relax in Him and enjoy all He is. Amen!
