Unbelieving Believers

For it is impossible to renew to repentance those who were once enlightened, who tasted the heavenly gift, became companions with the Holy Spirit, tasted God's good word and the powers of the coming age, and who have fallen away, because, to their own harm, they are re crucifying the Son of God and hold Him up to contempt. 
For ground that has drunk the rain that has often fallen on it and that produces vegetation useful to those it is cultivated for receives a blessing from God. But if it produces thorns and thistles, it is worthless and about to be cursed, and it will be burned in the end. Hebrews 6:4-8

Tough words! Yet Jesus Himself warned about this in His parables and teachings. Many times He talked about the unbelieving and the false being cut off, cast out and burned.

So then what does this mean? It means that the Kingdom of God is a serious matter for serious believers, not drifters.

To accept Christ and then turn away and curse Him or despise His Holy Spirit is hard to come back from. I know people who have turned away from Christ because of other 'Christians' and in doing so lose something precious. I know their fate and cry for them, interceed for them. 

Eternity without Christ would be unbearable.

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
