Now Faith Is!

Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen. For our ancestors won Gid's approval by it.
By faith we understand was created by Gid's command, so that what is seen has been made from things that are not visible.
By faith Abel offered to God a better sacrifice than Cain did. By faith he was approved as righteous because God approved his gifts, even though he is dead, he still speaks through faith. Hebrews 11:1-4

I have never quite understood why Abel was considered worthy to note as a man of faith until today. I understood Abraham being a man of faith; of Moses stepping out in faith; of David walking in faith but Abel, no.

Abel's life was short, his faith got him killed. He obviously loved The Lord and brought an offering, perhaps his first and last. There is not much written about this young man who the writer of Hebrews includes in the hall of fame.

I don't know about you but I want my name written in the Lamb's book of life an I want to live a story worth telling. It has to be a life of faith, for there is no other way to please God.

For me faith has been an act of stepping out and doing something I believed right to do before God. Abel and his brother Cain both brought offerings to God but only Abel was accepted and now written about in Hebrews.

We can often wonder if we are walking in faith, is there something more? Perhaps we over- scrutinize our lives, perhaps I do. However, when complaining and whining are heard I slap myself up the face and turn to God because whining is not faith.

At times the walk of faith is like being in a dense forest and finding ones bearings is difficult, the sun, moon and stars are obliterated and all that can be seen is forest. It is almost suffocating, yet to get bearings you have to stop and centre and wait for the Wind of the Spirit. When it comes you know what to do. Amen!

Abel obviously heard God and in joy brought an offering. I love it that way. When God prompts me to give a special offering, I love being involved. There's real joy there. Amen!
