Old Lions
As you see, The Lord has kept me (Caleb) alive these 45 years as He promised, since The Lord spoke His word to Moses while Israel was journeying in the wilderness. Here I am today, 85 years old. I am still as strong today as I was the day Moses sent me out. My strength for battle and for daily tasks is now as it was then. Now give me this hill country The Lord promises me on that day, because you heard then that the Anakim are there, as well as large fortified cities. Perhaps The Lord will be with me and I will drive them out as The Lord promised. Joshua 14:10-12
Another bold lion. Caleb and Joshua were the only two who came back from the original scouting party 45 years earlier, with a good report. Patiently, Joshua and Caleb waited, and now it was time to inherit.
Caleb boldly boasts of being just as fit as he was 45 years previously. I know that people at any age, will always feel young inside. I wonder if Caleb was actually as young as he thought.
Today I spent some time in the artesian pools at a park in Moree, NSW, Australia. The water is thicker than ordinary water, being high in mineral salts that are supposed to be good for you, if you don't have high blood pressure that is. The pool was 39o C. This is quite warm. I loved it. The pool was full of grey nomads. (Retires traveling around Australia). I felt a little out of place but managed to strike up conversation easily. I am really not far behind in age but a long way behind in attitude.
These people have retired from the fray. They don't contend with much at all. Yet Caleb was 85 and ready to pick a fight with giants. I could just imagine my mum and her friends going to war. My mum looks old and frail but happily drives my aunt all over the place and on Sunday happily helped lick out the bowl of a cake I was making. We had fun. See what I mean?
