Simple Faith

By faith Issac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come. By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, and he worshiped, leaning on the top of his staff. By faith Joseph, as he was nearing the end of his life, mentioned the exodus of the Israelites and gave instruction concerning his bones. Hebrews 11:20-22

As Christians we will do many things, some constitute faith many not. The above did many things but only one was mentioned as faith. Joseph would have had his faith severely tested through years of mistreatment and imprisonment, yet this is not mentioned. I wonder why?

At times we will second guess ourselves, in moments of failure or mistake we may go through times of introspection. I have being doing just that tonight. Today I made a statement that I thought at the time was right but on reflection not. I wonder why I said what I said. I know I was very tired and as I am still human, at least the last time I checked I was, I can fail.

As a Christian I can beat myself up and expect better, perhaps that is the Choleric in me. I give more grace to others than myself, usually.

Praise God His grace is not conditional, praise God He is never weary or faint and never gets things wrong. Praise God! Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
