Stand up! Hear truth and fix the wrong.

Then The Lord said to Joshua, "stand up! Why are you on the ground? Israel has sinned. They have violated My covenant that I appointed for them. They have taken some of what has been set apart. They have stolen, deceived, and put things with their own belongings. This is why Israel cannot stand against their enemies. They will turn their backs and run from their enemies, because they have been set apart for destruction. I will no longer be with you unless you remove from you what is set apart. Joshua 7:10-12

What do we know belongs to the Lord? Vengeance and glory are two, the tithe is third.

We cannot exact the price if sin against us from a perpetrator without playing God.
We cannot boast in ourselves and fail to give God due glory without suffering ignominity. (Lack of fame)

We cannot withold the tithe and expect to be blessed financially. What we sow we reap.

 God is just and righteous and if we enter His territory His rules apply, just as gravity applies. All things are held together by laws, they work by principles. God is not sitting around with a wand zapping us for failure to perform. He is gracious and loving but His universe functions according to His laws or precepts. We are unable to write our own laws, we are not that powerful. We may fool ourselves for a while but eventually the holes show and the walls collapse.

So, get up and stop whining. Repent and move on. Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
