Taking Possession
So The Lord gave Israel all the land He had sworn to give their fathers,
And they took possession of it and settled there.'The Lord gave them rest on every side according to all He has sworn to their fathers. None of their enemies were able to stand against them, for The Lord handed over all their enemies to them. None of the good promises The Lord had made to the house of Israel failed. Everything was fulfilled. Joshua 21:43-45
God keeps his promises. Yet back in 18:1-3 Joshua is remonstrating with the seven tribes who had not yet taken their lands telling them: "How long will you delay going out to take possession of the land that The Lord, the God of your fathers, gave you?
God has given us all exceedingly great promises but we must take possession of them. What causes us to delay? Perhaps bad teaching, perhaps bad believing, perhaps thinking this is all there is.
We discover God's promises as we read His word and start to pray about His promises to us. Going to church on Sunday alone will not make His promises alive to us, we must aggressively take the kingdom by force. No one will leave it to us in their will. Jesus already has done this but we must take it.
