The Bride's Price

For the bodies of those animals whose blood is brought into the most holy place by the high priest as a sin offering are burned outside the camp. Therefore Jeaus also suffered outside the gate, so that He might sanctify the people by His own blood. Let us then go to Him outside the camp, bearing His disgrace. For we so not have an enduring city here: instead, we seek the one to come. Therefore, through Him let us continually offer up to God a sacrifice of praise, that is, the fruit of our lips that confess His name. Hebrews 13:11-16

Again the author of Hebrews is drawing a parallel between the Old Testament and the New. The sacrifices instituted by God, through Moses, required a lot of animals to be slaughtered and their bodies to be burned outside the camp.
Jesus was crucified at Golgotha, outside the city of Jerusalem. He drew a parallel, as He was the lamb that was slain for the sins of many.

We are told in the gospels that we need to take up our cross an follow Him. What does that mean? It means not crying in our pretzels when things go wrong  rejoicing that we are partakers in the cross and that our God will bring us through.

To be able to rejoice we need to identify with Christ, to be able to identify is to find ourselves in Him, this requires determination and commitment.

Tonight I took my mum to see Grace of Monarco. The critics put the movie down so I wanted to see for myself. I loved it. Grace had married a prince and when things became tough she was in two minds as to whether she would go back to acting or persevere. Fortunately for Monarco, she decided to learn what it meant to be married to a prince and committed her life to her new role.

When we ask Christ into our lives we are no longer our own. We are married to a prince and need to learn what that entails and decide to become His princess. There is always a cost but as Grace found, the price was worth paying.

Pay the price, you will never regret it, for all of eternity. Amen!
