The Child Was Beautiful
By faith, after Moses was born, he was hidden by his parents for three months, because they saw the child was beautiful, and they didn't fear the kings edict. Hebrews 11:23
The reason given for the parents faith was: 'the child was beautiful.' This in itself is beautiful. We could imagine that if faith is involved the testimony would read: 'the parents sensed God had a plan for this child and in faith hid him.' Or 'an angel of The Lord visited the parents and spoke to them of Moses' destiny.'
Love for our children leads us to believe and to have faith. Wen my daughter was born I had had 24 hours of labour and she was tired, finally being delivered by a Caesarean section. The doctors came to me and said they were concerned about my daughter and sent her to the children's hospital in Sydney. Divine faith entered my heart and I said: "there is nothing wrong with my daughter." The Doctor suspected fibrocystic disease but I knew she was well and whole. I was to be tested on this. When I next saw her she had tubes going everywhere and I asked why. They said she was not drinking milk I knew what she needed was me and proved it. I was right, nothing was wrong.
Perhaps Moses' parent had a similar experience and faith filled their hearts for their son. I knew God had a plan for my daughter as we were tested many times in our faith for her. I am still being tested and I have to stay firm.
I imagine Moses' parents watched their sons life as he moved into the Pharoah's house and wondered at God's plan. Their faith would have been tested, I wonder if they were still alive when word got out that Moses had killed a man and fled into the desert? How would that have affected their faith?
Each of us are tested in our faith. God's word has to be proven to be true and we must hold firm to His word. He invites us to test Him and see if He will not come through.
