Disciples

Passing alongside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. And Jesus said to them, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." and immediately they left their nets and followed Him. And going along a little farther, He saw James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, who were in their boat mending their nets. And immediately He called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants and followed Him. Mark 1:16-20

I wonder if they boys had seen Jesus around or heard Him, I wonder if they had heard John the Baptist and been baptised and were waiting for the Messiah? I know hungry people find what they are looking for, I did. When I finally found my Lord the joy is unspeakable and has kept me going all these years (41 to be precise).

In the time I became a Christian there was a Jesus movement and we were on fire. However, many were praying for me and inviting me along to youth. It took about 12 months.

Who am I praying for? who will respond because of my diligence? I am so grateful for the faithful who prayed for me.

The joy of finding the saviour is almost equal to watching someone find Him, it is awesome. Don't neglect this precious experience by living for Mammon, it is not worth it. Start today, open your ears and eyes to the world around you. Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
