Kingdom Thinking

John said to Him, " Teacher, we saw someone driving out demons in Your name, and we tried to stop him because he wasn't following us."
Don't stop him," Jesus said, "because there is no one who will perform a miracle in My name who can soon afterward speak evil of Me. For whoever is not against us is for us. And whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because of My name, since you belong to the Messiah-I assure you, He will never lose his reward. Mark 9:38-41

Jesus, ever generous, ever inclusive again is teaching His disciples attitude.

The disciples had a club mentality, Jesus had and still has a Kingdom mentality. Our churches are not clubs where we are chummy buddies and insular but Kingdom facilities that reach out to the lost, hurt and wounded. When we start to have a club mentality we begin to shrink.

Jesus is repeating a similar lesson that Moses taught in Numbers, where a couple of young men in the camp were prophesying. He, like Jesus, had a Kingdom mentality and was pleased.

Being generous and not threatened by others walking as we are but outside the church should be marvelled at an rejoiced over. Amen!
