Jealous Hearts

The administrators and satraps, therefore, kept trying to find a charge against Daniel regarding the kingdom. But they could find no charge or corruption, for he was trustworthy, and no negligence or corruption was found in him. Then these men said, "We will never find any charge against this Daniel unless we find something against him concerning the law of his God." Daniel 6:4,5

You might wonder why they wanted to be rid of Daniel, we saw the same spirit in the Pharisees, scribes and Saducees in the time of Christ. They also conspired to be rid of him. Both groups had jealous hearts.

The Chaldeans convinced Darius to make a law that no man could pray to any god for 30 days. They knew Daniel would disobey this ridiculous law, and he did. The consequence of disobedience was to be thrown into a den of lions.

Daniel did get thrown into the den of lions but Darius fasted and prayed and Daniel was delivered. The result was that the accusers and all their families were thrown in instead.

The result of jealousy was sin and death. Not a good look. It would have been better to have generous hearts and honour Daniel and live. Amen!
