Stay Awake and Pray

Then they came to a place named Gethsemane, and He told His disciples, "Sit here while I pray." He took Peter, James and John with Him, and He began  to be deeply distressed and horrified. Then He said to them, "My soul is swallowed up in sorrow- to the point of death. Remain here and stay awake." Then He went a little farther, fell it the ground, and began to pray that if it were possible, the hour might pass from Him. And He said, "Abba Father! All things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me. Nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will." Mark 14:32-36

Jesus experienced extreme anxiety about what was about to happen. He prayed that the Father might change His mind, but He didn't. I can say I am grateful He didn't. Yet Jesus suffered, first emotionally for me.

There are some that are facing evil bent on destruction. Evil that would treat shamefully, just as Jesus was treated.

I am sure that if it were possible the Father would have changed the plan but Jesus was the only sinless man on earth and souls needed salvation.

As I read what is happening to our Christian  brothers and sisters and their little children I grieve and would reach our and scoop them up out of their distress, but I cannot. What they are going through God only knows the outcome. My prayer is that He covers them, strengthens them and makes a way for them. I hear that Ameruca is sending in the air force to help. Praise God! What can we do?

Jesus asked His disciples to pray for Him. They may have for a short time but then fell asleep. In other gospels it is mentioned that they fell asleep in grief.

Perhaps we can pray as a world-wide church and hold these loved ones up. All I know is, at this time I cannot go about life as if nothing is wrong. I cannot take my ease and think only of me.

I ask you, dear reader to pray and if you can encourage others to join you in pray that would be good. Pray with an open heart and ask The Lord how you can help. Amen!
