Achsah, Woman of Faith

Caleb said, "Whoever strikes down and captures Kiriath-sepher, I will give my daughter Achsah to him as wife. So Othniel son of Kenaz, Caleb's youngest brother, captured it, and Caleb gave his daughter Achsah to him as wife.
When she arrived she persuaded Othniel to ask her father for a field. As she got off her donkey, Caleb asked her, "what do you want?" She answered him, "Give me a blessing. Since you have given me land in the Negev, give me springs of water also." So Caleb gave her both the upper and lower springs. Judges 1:12-15

Achsah had to trust her father and her God. She could have been given in marriage to anyone yet the man who won her later became a judge in the land.

It appeared that the land in the Negev was a dry and dusty place, not worth much so Achsah asked for a blessing. She didn't just receive one, she received two springs.

This was a woman of faith and willing to ask for a blessing, instead of grumbling and complaining.

Achsah request is reminiscent of the daughters of Zelophehad from Numbers 27, who asked for an inheritance in the promised land even though it had not then been won.

Where do you find yourself? Are you in a dusty place? Why not ask for a blessing and trust our God who gives abundantly to all who ask Him? Amen!
