Down Hill

Samson went to Gaza, where he saw a prostitute and went to bed with her. When the Gaites heard that Samson was there, they surrounded te place and waited in ambush for him all night at the city gates. While they were waiting quietly, they said, "Let us wait until dawn; then we will kill him." But Samson got up, took hold of the doors of the city gate along with the two gate posts, and he pulled them out, bar and all. He put them on his shoulders an took them to re top o the mountain overlooking Hebron. Judges 16:1-3

We do not see the Spirit of God involved in this. The first time Samson wanted a woman he was ready to marry but now we see him sleeping with a prostitute. He still had his strength but he did not have the Spirit of God. How sad!

Samson was perhaps not aware that the Spirit of God had left him because he still had his strength.

I am sad for Samson as he had no one who spoke into his life. He disregarded his parent's opinions when he wanted to marry a Philistine some 20 years earlier. There is no priest that we know of, Samson is his own truth. This is a dangerous place.

The gifts of the Holy Spirit are not removed and this can make a backslidden man or woman still seem spiritual when they are not. It takes a person who knows their God to discern the truth.
