Loving Sin More
The angel of The Lord went up from Gilgal to Bochim and said, "I brought you out of Egypt and led you into the land I had promised your fathers. I also said: "I will never break My covenant with you. You are not to make a covenant with the people who are living in this land, and you are to tear down their altars. But you have not obeyed Me. What is this you have done? Therefore, I will now say: "I will not drive out these people before you. They will be thorns in your sides, and their gods will be a trap for you."
When the angel of The Lord spoke these words to all the Israelites, the people wept loudly. So they named the place Bochim and offered sacrifices there to The Lord. Daniel 2:1-5
Well, you could be forgiven for thinking, 'good they are back on track.' But not 6 verses later thy went back to what they were doing.
This shows thy loved their sin more than they loved The Lord.
In scripture I am teaching the children the importance of loving God and loving others more than wanting their own way. I have taught them that they have two sets of ears: one set on their heads, the second set in their hearts. I even made up a little song for them and sing it every week. So that they might 'get it!'
The first week I taught about the sower and the seed and that the soil represented our ears.
The Israelites did not care to use the ears of their heart but stubbornly followed what made them feel good. Wrong!
Caleb followed The Lord, his daughter and nephew seemed to do so as well.
Where do we stand? Do you inner ears need washing out?
