He said, "You took the gods I had made and the priest, and went away. What do I have left? How can you say to me,
" What is the mater with you?" Judges 18:22-24
Micah is so far removed from truth that he fails to realize the Danites have done him a favour. He is now free from idolatry, if he can but accept his freedom and seek The Lord instead.
Micah's mother's curse has been fulfilled as Micah stole her silver, originally, and although he gave it back, because of the curse, it came back to bite him.
The Daites were on their way to destroy a people group who had been living peacefully, because they wanted their land, they would set up the idol in their land and the priest, grandson of Moses, as their priest.
How easy it is to assume an action is right because it is a copy of one once endorsed by God. In doing so we can establish ourselves as god and master and be far from the truth. If God does not initiate an action, copying does not give us that endorsement. What is He saying?
God is far from these people.
