The Greatness of God

I am more stupid than any other man, and I lack man's ability to understand.
I have not gained wisdom, and I have no knowledge of the Holy One.
Who has gone up to heaven and come down?
Who has gathered the wind in his hands?
Who has bound up waters in a cloak?
Who has established all the ends of the earth?
What is His name,
And what is the name of His Son- if you know?
Every word of God is pure;
He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him.
Don't add to His words, or He will rebuke you, and you will be proved a liar. Proverbs 30:1-6

These proverbs show a man with a humble estimation of himself and his knowledge of God. He does not assume he knows God, but that there is too much about Him that is unknown to Him.

Job thought He knew God but found he didn't, this man confesses his lack.

I am fortunate to say I know the name of the Son of God, Jesus is His name. I am fortunate to be able to read the scripture and gain understanding of God through His interactions with mankind.

Without scripture my understanding of God would be small and based on all I know, my experience. Yet because I have scripture I am able to base my knowledge of God on what is real. I am able to read of His interactions with mankind.

He is good! His message of hope is real. I am able to live because He lives. I am given hope because He gives me hope. He is good!

He is in all He created, all of the earth sings His praise. If I stop and listen I hear. I  am not alone in my praise.

When I see a huge storm come in and I think of the verse: 'who has bound up waters in his cloak?' I am reminded of my smallness and the greatness of my God.
I am lucky if I catch but a cup of rain let alone all of the rain clouds, they are too much for me. Amen!
