Arrogance leads to nothing but strife, but wisdom is gained by those who take advice. Wealth obtained by fraud will dwindle, but whoever earns it through labour will multiply. Proverbs 13: 10,11
Why are people arrogant? Often with a false sense of self-importance, we can be deceived to thinking we are awesome when we are blessed. Humility leads to life, pride to a fall. It is said that someone who has been treated badly as a child, or perceived that this was the case, with try and dominate through arrogance to maintain the 'me first' syndrome.
I know the times that I am nervous I am louder and speak out of turn. I am also loud when excited. The rest of the time I maintain respect for others. However, arrogance is cruel to others, puts them down and firmly in their places, underneath the arrogant.
How does God view things? If we saw as He sees there would be no need for arrogance, we would be quietly confident that He is doing a good thing in us.
When I experience arrogance coming towards me it makes me angry and I refuse to submit but go to God for His way. His way is always gentle.
Along with arrogance is fraud. Arrogant people want what they cannot have and will yield to fraud to obtain the result they want. This makes them quite objectionable.
A better way is to submit to God and in due season He will raise us up. Amen!
