Making Money

The one who loves pleasure will become a poor man;
whoever loves wine and oil will not get rich. Proverbs 21:17

Loving pleasure causes us to spend into a black hole, it bears no fruit and gives no return, only emptiness and shame. As we focus on our own pleasure we are enticed by the latest gadgets, tools, equipment we do not need.

If, however, our eyes are on the Lord and allow Him to guide our hearts we become givers, savers, investors. Our money is used to create wealth for others and ourselves. Money is not for buying stuff but for sowing and creating.

When we cannot afford things that others might buy we can tend to feel sorry for ourselves but perhaps God is training us in what is a 'need' rather than what is a 'want.' When we have plenty it is not a time to be caught up in wants. There is an enemy who is devising all the wants he can imagine so that we spend all we have and find ourselves in need.

The rich know how to control their appetites. Amen!
