The apostle Paul referred to this in Romans 10:2 when he talked about those Jews who refused Christ as their saviour but were still ardent for the law. They were zealous for religion but not a relationship with the One who came to restore a friendship with God.
I must constantly be aware: is my zeal for Christ or am I playing the religion game? In all I do and say, is it about relationship with the giver of freedom or am I putting myself and others into bondage?
Being religious and pious is so unattractive to the lost. I am here as a torchbearer for the lost. Is my behaviour speaking freedom or bondage?
'Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Chtist has made you free and do not again be entangled in yoke of bondage.' I am entangle in bondage every time religion creeps into my behaviour.
Am I religious about going to church or expecting others to be there a certain amount of times or on certain days? Am I religious about how much others should pray, or I should pray?
A check up of our heart attitudes is always a good thing, then we can maintain freedom. Amen!
