True Treasure

My son, obey my words, and treasure my commands. Keep my commands and live; Protect my teachings as the pupil of your eye. Tie them to your fingers; write them on the tablets of your heart. Say to wisdom, "You are my sister," and call understanding your relative. she will keep you from a forbidden woman, a stranger with her flattering talk. Proverbs 7: 1-5

We know from scripture Solomon's sons did not take his teaching to heart, I wonder who did? It is rare to find someone who wants to know truth, without the Holy Spirit being involved, in fact, unless He calls, no one listens.

So then who can benefit from the wisdom in this book? A person who has a heart for truth. I know there was a time that I did not have such a heart and had to pray that the Lord would give me a heart for truth.

I can choose my own way or seek the Lord for His way. His way is not easier, in fact it is full of challenges, but it changes me. I am going to a future of His making. My time on earth is short, a dot in comparison, with all of eternity. I am doing my apprenticeship for eternity, right now.

What do I want eternity to look like for me? I want to be  companion of the Lord and those who also chose to walk with Him. I want the excitement of an eternity filled with wonder and relationships that count.

Quick fixes here are not worthwhile. As Solomon was trying to instruct in how to avoid 'the loose woman,' likewise I have to avoid the loose man, the loose companions of my world here and now. If people are into quick fixes, I stay away.

Wisdom and understanding are my relatives, I hold them close, as the pupil of my eye through which I see. I allow them to restrain me, when my heart rages, and I wait for peace, for it comes as I yield the rock in my emotions.

Emotions cannot rule, they can only respond to Godly thinking and speech, full stop! Amen!
