Wisdom calls out in the street;
she raises her voice in the public squares.
She cries out above the commotion;
She speaks at the entrance of the city gates:
How long, foolish ones, will you love ignorance?
How long will you mockers enjoy mocking
and fools hate knowledge?
If you respond to my warning,
Then I will pour my spirit out on you
and teach you my words.
Proverbs 1:20-23
It is interesting that wisdom is found in ordinary places, in the street, public squares, in the din and commotion, but who would think to look for it there.
Wisdom is commonly associated with teachers, gurus, priests who hide themselves away from the din and commotion, being above it, somehow. We do not think to look for wisdom in the noise, but it is there.
In our lives the noise and commotion seems to dominate and say, "No wisdom found here, just drudgery, work, work, work." Yet it is there and we can seek it.
In the family noise, the dramas, the misunderstandings, it can be found, if we seek it.
The scripture says: 'if we respond to wisdom then it will pour out it's spirit upon us and teach us it's words.' What a promise! What a blessing!
Why not seek wisdom with me, instead of believing the lies? Amen!
