Follow the Whole Truth and Nothing But the Truth

For we did not follow. cleverly contrived myths when we made known to you the power and coming of the Lord Jesus Christ; instead, we were eye witnesses of His majesty. For when He received honour and glory from God the Father, a voice came to Him from the majestic glory:
" This is My beloved Son, I take delight in Him."
And we heard this voice when it came from heaven while we were with Him, on the holy mountain. So we have the prophetic word strongly confirmed.
You will do well to pay attention to it, as to a lamp shining in a dismal place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your heart.
First of all, you should know this: no prophesy of Scripture comes from one's own interpretation, because no prophesy ever came by the will of man, instead, men spoke from God as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. 2 Peter 1:16-21

The people Peter was writing to were beginning to believe false doctrines and he was writing to correct them. He was an eye witness and his testimony was sure, like a lamp shining in a dismal place.

Peter confirms the place of prophesy in scripture, how it was inspired by God and that it confirmed his testimony.

All scripture is inspired by God and should be a confirmation of what we are taught and what we believe. Prophesy points the way to a Christ, speaks about Christ, confirms Him.

As I read the Old Testament I see this truth. Even in books that are historical, He is there. His thread is all through the book.

Men make up doctrines that suit them, especially if they want to practice behaviours that scripture denounce. Being puffed up in their own pride they will create a new gospel that denies the deity of Christ so that they can walk in sinful ways.

Embracing the full truth of the gospel sets us free. Trust Him and follow His truth, don't create your own, it might tickle your ears but it will lead you away from life. Amen!
