Like newborn infants, desire the pure spiritual milk, so that you may grow by it for your salvation, since you have tasted that the Lord is good.
Coming to Him, a living stone- rejected by men but chosen and valuable to God- you yourselves, as living stones, are being built into a spiritual house for a holy priesthood to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 2:1-5
We have a saviour who denied Himself self-pity and had every reason to give in, yet He denied sin its place in His life. Peter is telling us that Christ is a 'living' stone. He chose life continually, He embodied life continually. He went before us and showed the way, the way of life. He told us to come to Him when we labour, look to Him when all else crowds us in, seek His face when the storms roll in. He has a right to say these things and he has a right to call us to walk as He walked, talk as He talked and quit whining.
Peter is telling us to do away with malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy and slander. I would add whinging. I find people who whinge pull me down and I have to battle constantly through their attitude.
You might guess I am having a say. Sorry folks! When I walk in defeat, complaints, self-pity I spit in my Lord's face. I must slap myself up the side of my face and say, "Get over it!"
When I don't see why things happen I must trust. When I don't understand, I must trust. When things are hard, I must trust. Trust and obey! Amen!
