It is not from the Lord of Hosts that the people labour to fuel the fire and countries exhaust themselves for nothing?
For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord's glory, as the waters cover the sea. Habakkuk 2:12-14
Babylon was taken by Persia. The once proud, fierce nation was defeated. Yet in the heyday of its rule I am sure that people would look and wonder at its might. The same could have been said about the Roman Empire or the British Empire.
I come from British ancestry yet I know that there was wrong done by it. Slavery had to be extricated from its fabric by William Wilberforce. We now have a resurgence of slavery in places such as India where the British ruled between 1600 and 1947. What started as a peaceful relationship through the East a indies Company became political when the East India Company floundered. What did they teach them?
The way we have treated others comes back to bite our countries down the road. If, in our arrogance and pride, we move into a country of lowly peasants and inflict injustice, thinking that they are only peasants and won't know any better, when the peasant becomes a politician we are in trouble.
Assuming superiority is a recipe for disaster in any relationship even for parents. Parents who abuse their children create abusers. When do we get the understanding that what we sow we reap? Amen
