A Thousand days are Like a Day

We set out from Ahava River on the twelfth day of the first month to go to Jerusalem. We were strengthened by our God, and He protected us from the power of the enemy and from ambush along the way. So we arrived in Jerusalem and rested there three days. On the fourth day the silver, gold, and the articles were weighed out in the house of our God into the care of Meremoth the priest, son of Uriah. Ezra 8:31-34

Although this group of people had travelled 900 miles this scripture does not elaborate on the journey so we could assume it was uneventful.

How good it is to arrive at our destination after travelling. Tomorrow I drive to Brisbane, hopefully for the last time as we soon will have flights between our cities. The drive will take about 8 hours and I will be driving by myself and thus doing all the driving. We have had some good rain so the journey will be a blessing. Last time I went up the land was in drought.

It is my son's birthday over the weekend and he plans to take me diving again, I think we did the same last year. On Monday I fly to Perth for a conference, fly back to Brisbane on 22 Jan and stay a few days over the Australia Day long weekend, then drive home again.

The flight to Perth takes 5 hours however if I had to walk or ride a horse or camel it would take a very long time, perhaps a year. I know that on that trip I would encounter many things: Fire, flood, famine, wild animals, wild humans. The early Australians had a group of explorers who we keen to investigate this great land, many perished for lack of food and water.

Yet Ezra completes the journey in a few, short, sentences,

This is what God can do. He makes time fly and covers and protects. He is Good.!
