How So I Confess?

On the twenty-fourth day of the month the Israelietes assembled; they were fasting, wearing sacloth and had put dust on their heads. Those of Israelite descent separated themselves from all foreigners, and they stood and confessed their sins and the guilt of their fathers. While they stood in their places, they read from the book of the law of the Lord their God. Nehemiah 9:1-3

Their biggest sin was the intermarrying with the non-Israelite nations and adopting the foreign gods. In the book of Ezra they actually put away their foreign wives and mourned.

After spending a week celebrating in their booths they now assemble to confess their sins and worship their God. Reading the scriptures convicts of sin as the presence of God comes. It is a relationship with Him that brings conviction, not the letter of the law alone.

I can force myself, religiously to follow a code of conduct but will eventually fall off the rails. But as I come into His presence I meet His holiness and it convicts me of my need for Him and His ways.

As I go to church today I am seeking Him. He reveals Himself in worship, in the preaching of the word or just in fellowship, but He is there for me. Amen!

Seek Him today!
