Prayer, Good Prayer

Whenever you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites, because they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by the people. I assure you they got their reward! But when you pray, go into your private room, shut the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your father who sees in secret will reward you. Matthew 6:5,6

You know I sense the Spirit saying: "I long to spend intimate time with you, make it about you and I and don't try to impress the faceless crowd." Words such as: 'go into your private room,' 'shut the door,' 'pray in secret,' all talk of a love affair.

Pour out your love to Him, get intimate with Him. Amen!

Tonight I had another cousin visiting. I made sure we had a lovely dinner and we talked, and talked, and talked. We had intimate conversation about us and our lives. We would not shout out this conversation from the street corners. I am grateful my cousin came, honoured in fact. I am grateful she trusts me enough to talk about her life with me. This was special.

Now, if two humans can do it, so can we and our God. Give it a try! Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
