Moving on from there, He entered their synagogue. Then He saw a man who had a paralysed hand. And in order to accuse Him they asked Him, "is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?"
But He said to them, "what man among you, if he had a sheep that fell into a pit on the Sabbath, wouldn't take hold of it and lift it out?" A man is worth far more than a sheep, so it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath."
Then He told the man, "stretch out your hand. So he stretched it out, and it was restored, as good as the other. But the Pharisees went out and plotted against Him, how they might destroy Him.
Matthew 12:9-14
We have just had a state election here in NSW, Australia. The opposition parties to the one that had held office resorted to stretching the truth to gain attention. They were happy to bend truth to get a result.
Jesus represented heart and the Pharisees represented law. In the face of their saviour, they chose the lie to retain their opinions about how things should be done. How sad!
Jesus brings relationship to the fore and says that keeping pert laws is not where He, or the Father were at.
We need to put people before things or animals for that matter. Amen!
