The Journey

Summoning the twelve disciples, He gave them authority over unclean spirits, to drive them out and to heal every disease and sickness.
As you go, announce this, 'The Kingdom of heaven has come near.' Heal the sick, raise the dead, and cleanse those with skin diseases, drive out demons, you hav received free of charge: give free of charge. Don't take along gold, silver or copper for your money belts. Don't take a travelling bag for the road, or an extra shirt, sandals, or walking stick, for the worker is worthy of his food.
When you enter a town or village, find out who is worthy, and stay there until you leave. Greet ahousehold when you enter it, and if the household is worthy, let your peace be upon it. But if the household is worthy let your peace return to you. If anyone will not welcome you and listen to you shake the dust off your feet when you leave that house or town. Matthew 10:1;7-14

This would require faith. Not taking along money, food or clothing, expecting to stay in another's house and to be given all you need would today be considered rude. Yet, Jesus was saying 'the labourer is worth his hire.'

The disciples had been with Jesus from the beginning and saw all He did. Now, it was their turn. They had not been baptised with the Holy Spirit as He had been yet here they were being sent to work miracles.

Jesus, here, is telling them to do what He would do. This is what they had learned and more. Now they were understanding the more.

I find it interesting that peace is something that can be given or retained, that it belongs to the one who was sent.

I am in the process of preparing a road trip away. There are some who welcome me and some who don't. Those who welcome me are blessed, those that don't, miss out. What have I got to give? I carry all og God's  best with me. I have to keep that in mind.
