Agreeing in Prayer
'Again, I assure you: If two of you on earth agree about any matter that you pray for, it will be done for you by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there among them." Matthew 18:18,20.
This text comes after the instruction about restoring a brother who sins against me, whatever I bind on earth is what is bound in heaven, whatever I loose on earth is what is loosed in heaven. If I fail to forgive, judgement is held and we are both stuck.
Now if I, in self-righteous indignation endeavour to pray God's fire on a brother, this would not work. My attitude is wrong and the action is not approved in heaven. I must get over my offence, humble my heart and find God's answer.
His answer is: first try and reconcile. Then if you fail join in prayer for the brother and it will be done as that prayer seeks God's best for the man.
I know when I touch God's heart and when I pray as He would want me pray. Everyone needs room to repent and be restored. If I hold judgement, there is no room for restoration.
