Divorce is Not a God Plan
Some Pharisees came to Him to test Him saying: "is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?"
Jesus said to them, " haven't you read at the beginning the creator made them male and female and said, "for this reason a man should leave his mother and father and be united with his wife and they will no longer be two but become one flesh. So they are no longer two but one. Therefore, what God has joined together let no man separate." Matthew 19:3-6
By the time Jesus had arrived on the scene the laws surrounding marriage had changed from the original intention. During Moses' time a man could give his wife a certificate of divorce. The Pharisees brought this up to justify their stance.
Yet what was Jesus saying? God made male and female and Jesus said: 'for this reason a man should leave his mother and father and be united with his wife.'
What has that got to do with their lust and hard hearts? Nothing! Could it be possible that right there, with a male and a female there is all the potential intended by God for a new beginning, a whole new family?
Leaving the family home signifies leaving parental influence. The two young adults were now to forge their own way. Mum and dad had to keep their opinions to themselves and give the couple freedom to begin and learn.
When a couple come together in sexual union they are fused. Like two pieces of ply wood bonded with strong adhesive. They were bonded to create something new.
When you try to separate two pieces of ply wood that have been bonded together you will destroy one or both.
Marriage is meant to last. It was God's invention.
