In What Spirit do I Behave?

Then Jesus told him (Peter), "Put your sword back in its place because all who take up the sword will perish by the sword. Or do you think I cannot call on My Father and He will provide Me with 12 legions of angels! How, then, would the scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen this way?" Matthew 26:52-54

There is a right way to handle everything. This past week there has been another slanderous attack on Hillsong Church. The media did not contact the church for their opinion but went from a slant that they understood. An assumption that Hillsong must be a cult and they must be doing something wrong because, well, this is all they know.

The head pastor, Brian Houston, wrote on Facebook about keeping a loving attitude. If the church and its people lash out back, well this solidifies the opinion that they are wrong.

Jesus faced a crowd of people who wanted His blood. They believed He was a crook and a fake. Jesus knew that retaliation was not the right response. He had to keep His love on, because if He didn't we will all still be sitting in our sin, far from Him.

I am grateful He chose to love the unlovely. Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
